Master of Arts in Mental Health Counseling

Mental Health Counseling is a distinct profession with national and state standards for education, training, and clinical practice. Mental Health Counselors provide a full range of services for individuals, couples and families, and groups. The Master of Arts in Mental Health Counseling program at Marist College provides the academic preparation necessary to become a Licensed Mental Health Counselor in New York State.

4 Distinctions of the Marist MA in Mental Health Counseling Program:

  1. One of the first graduate programs in mental health counseling to be approved by the New York State Department of Education.
  2. The Program maintains a linkage with the New York Mental Health Counselor Association (NYMHCA) and the local chapter, the Hudson Valley Interest Group (HVIG), holds regular meetings on campus.
  3. A 60-credit curriculum which includes 600 hours of externship experience.
